How to Make Pistachio Butter at Home?
Pistachio butter with its rich, nutty, creamy flavor can be a great inspiration for creating new flavors. If you are one of those organic lovers who try to make everything on their own, like me, congrats! You can make one of the healthiest and most delicious butters in your kitchen. The pistachio butter!
What does pistachio butter taste like?
Pistachio butter tastes like a more compact, concentrated version of pistachio itself. Can be smooth and not very pleasant if the pistachio is low quality or not stored properly. You can use it as a spread for sweet and savory crepes, flavoring for desserts or as a topping for costini.
Pistachio butter is different from pistachio paste and has different application and recipe.
You can use pistachio butter in your Ice cream, pancakes or in your breakfast oatmeal. As a Nut butter lover, I have always wanted to make pistachio butter on my own kitchen. We found the easiest way to make it, and now we want to share it with you.
Follow these few steps to make this wonderful butter in a blink of an eye!
- 2 cups shelled pistachios
- 1 cup water
- ½-tablespoon sea salt
1- When you find some free time, perhaps while watching Netflix, remove shells and as much of the peel as you can from the pistachios.
2- Place the peeled pistachios in the strainer and rinse their salt off. However, if you prefer your pistachio butter to be saltier, skip ahead to step 4. (optional)
3- After rinsing, dry to remove excess salt and the salty water you don’t want in your pistachio butter.
4- Put the pistachios in the blender or food processor.
5- Process on high until the pistachios look grainy.
6- Using one tablespoon, add water and resume blending. It’s best to gently add water and mix to reach your desired texture and consistency; one that is not too watery.
7- Repeat step 6, adding water and mixing as needed. Scrap the sides of the food processor occasionally and proceed to blend until smooth.
8- Once you reached your desired consistency, put the pistachio butter in a glass jar and store in the refrigerator. Enjoy with any other nut butter you prefer.
How to Store Pistachio Butter?
It is better to preserve in a cool, dry place away from light and humidity. If you transfer the butter to an airtight container, you can store it in the room temperature for a couple of days or in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
Voila! Hope you like this DIY recipe. Now it is time to chill and have a spoon of our homemade pistachio butter. Right?
