Dried Barberry is obtained from the fruit of barberry plants cultivated in arid and semi-arid areas of Iran. Depending on the region, barberry fruits are dried using different methods, including shade-drying, sun-drying, and industrial drying.  

Our method of industrial drying includes the following steps:

• Pre-treatment before drying: which includes storage in a cool environment after harvesting
• Washing and primary sifting (sorting): includes taking off leaves and twigs and foreign objects, treating with special chemicals and then leaving to drain 
• Blanching or limiting enzyme activity by immersing in hot water or subjecting to vapor
• Drying (the most sensitive part of Barberry processing) includes eliminating water content from the fruits while maintaining the original quality and color.
• Stemming: getting rid of stalks/stems attached to dried barberries
• Secondary sifting: to separate any stem, leave, metals, or any foreign object (using a vibrating mesh, vacuum tools, magnetic and ultrasonic tools, and gravity)
• Conditioning and Packaging, when dried barberries are cooled and packed cleanly.
